According to authorities, a Walla Walla officer subdued a man with a TASER device after a gang fight had been broken up in the middle of a street.

Over 20 people, many who are suspected of being local gang members, were watching or were involved in the fight when a single officer was called to the area to investigate. After arriving on the scene most of the spectators fled; however two suspects continued to fight and as a result the officer had to order them to stop numerous times.

One individual was subdued with a TASER device, and as additional officers arrived on scene, many people were contacted and identified; however no arrests were undertaken. While two vehicles were damaged during the incident, the owners of the vehicles didn’t want to pursue charges.

The fight on the other hand is being investigated by the department’s gang unit.

While fights may be a common thing within today’s society that doesn’t mean they are acceptable. For whatever reason, it seems that individuals get into fights in order to prove something, either to themselves or to those around them. This often leaves many people involved facing injuries as a result.

Of course, while there are people fighting others there are also officers trying to stop these events from happening, or to stop them from continuing. But while a firearm is not the ideal tool to employ in these situations they need to rely upon a device that is. This is where a TASER device steps in.

Quick and effective to employ the self defense tool provides the added protection required when dealing with individuals in a hostile situation. Furthermore, an officer utilizing this device is not required to be close to their suspect in order to subdue them, which greatly adds to their safety.

This after all is the main objective when it comes to TASER devices. It provides optimal protection to the many officers who employ them, while also defending the citizens that they serve on a daily basis by taking down the unruly suspects who are presenting a threat in today’s society.
