Build Confidence through Self Defense
For some people, martial arts is not simply just about learning about self defense or even about building their character. For some, it could be a form of exercise that aids at fighting off the pain due to a back injury.
This is the reason why one martial arts instructor turned to martial arts. Now, the instructor along with a partner have opened their own business Rapid Defense Martial Arts offering defensive classes to those who want to learn vital skills when it comes to knowing how to protect themselves from threats, as well as building their confidence.
Seven years ago, less than a week before deploying to Iraq, the instructor suffered a bad landing during a routine parachute jump in poor weather. However, despite back pain he was deployed before initially getting checked out. As a result, his back injury forced him to return early and in 2004 was honorably discharged.
Now, however, along with pursuing a biochemistry degree, he is focusing his time on his other love: martial arts. At the age of 10 and a huge fan of the Teenage Ninju Mutant Turtles, he first began with tae kwon do, but soon moved on to Wing Chun kung fu before eventually shifting to the Bujinjan form of ninjutsu he practices today.
Knowing self defense ideally trains a person for real world circumstances, taking into account the environment, in addition to knowing how to effectively avoid a conflict. Not only is knowing self defense perfect for increasing protection levels, but it is also perfect for developing a person’s self confidence through the techniques they learn.
Confidence is ultimately what is comes down to when you find yourself confronted with an assailant. It requires being able to successfully assess a situation while also being able to determine what technique will effectively remove you from harm’s way.
By employing confidence boosting techniques, with regards to how you walk and look, will mean that an assailant may be less inclined to target you if you know how to defend yourself. It’s all about presenting yourself in a confident manner; however if someone does decide to target you they will soon find out that you aren’t someone that should be messed with.
