Man Dies from Overdose, Not TASER Device
It had been determined that a south Lafourche man who was subdued by a TASER device in August, died as a result of an overdose, and not because of the shock he received from the self defense device.
It was believed that the 49-year-old man who died on August 1, died because Houma Police officers had targeted him with the stunning device. However, a senior investigator at the coroner’s office released information explaining that the actual cause of death was down to an accidental overdoes.
Officers had initially tried to arrest the man after they received an alert that a man was jumping off of roofs at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral and school. After the man became aggressive when officers attempted to apprehend him, he was stunned by the TASER device.
It has now become the norm to link self defense stunning devices to the deaths of individuals after they have been utilized on them. And yet, after an investigation has been undertaken other causes of death are often the actual result.
By this stage though the damage has already been done, and in most cases this is enough to produce a shadow of doubt over most peoples’ minds when it comes to actually purchasing them for their safety.
And yet, for anyone interested in buying a TASER device for their safety, all they need to do is read up on the information regarding the tools to understand that these are widely regarded by law enforcement as a much safer device to employ. Not only does it help to maximize a person’s safety, but it also helps to diffuse a situation from escalating.
In most cases though, the mere sight of one of these devices is often enough to deter a potential threat from continuing. After all no one wants to experience the shock from one. However, there will be individuals who refuse to be daunted by the sight of a self defense device, which is why it’s important for an owner of one to fully understand how to correctly utilize it.
This way they can receive maximize security as they prevent an attack from occurring.
