Pepper Spray Class Offered by NMSU Police

The New Mexico State University Police Department, NMSU, will be providing a pepper spray class next month for its students, in addition to its popular self defense class for women.

Those who attend the self defense spray class will be rewarded with knowing how to correctly utilize the spray and the legal parameters of it as well. Before students leave the class at the end, they will be given a can of pepper spray plus a training module that will provide them with the opportunity to read further on what they have already learnt.

In addition to the pepper spray class, there will also be the popular self defense class offered to women 16 years of age and older. This class will be taught in a four-hour block which will focus on typical sexual assault situations.

Furthermore, female students will learn how to stop a man from employing his strength while at the same time utilizing their own unique strengths against the weak points on a man.

Learning how to protect yourself while at university is always an ideal opportunity for students to take advantage of. Not only are you acquiring vital skills for free, but you will be increasing your safety as well through the skills you learn.

This way, while you’re away from home, you won’t have to worry about how you are going to defend yourself if someone approaches you in an aggressive manner. Not only that, but simply by knowing basic self defense skills can greatly increase your confidence which is often enough to deter someone from approaching you, if they can see that you are confident in your ability.

When it comes to pepper spray, students who know how to correctly employ the device will also be better off when they have to defend themselves. In most cases, when an individual purchases the self defense spray they lack the knowledge of how to properly employ it.

But if students take the first step of learning how they are supposed to, not only will they be more confident when the times comes for them to employ it, but they will also have an increased chance of actually preventing their attacker from continuing with their actions when they target their face.
