Recycling Bear Spray Canisters at Yellowstone National Park

Recycling bear spray canisters is now possible at Yellowstone National Park after they received a new machine that enables them to recycle the spray canisters safely. Any expired canisters are being collected from employees by the park.

When inserted into the new machine it collects any remaining spray from the cans while also separating the pepper oil from the propellant before the cans are then crushed. Private donations are what have enabled the park to become provided with the useful machine.

Of course, anyone who has visited Yellowstone National Park, or who works there will understand the owning bear spray is vital for a person’s protection when walking around a park that is home to black bears.

Before this machine was implemented into the park, getting rid of the empty canisters is not known, but seeing as any remaining spray inside the canisters could prove hazardous if in the wrong hands, an ideal solution would be to have a way to carefully get rid of the canisters.

And that seems to have arisen with the new machine at Yellowstone National Park.

Anyone hiker, walker, or hunter who travels to Yellowstone National Park and finds that their bear spray is empty, may want to consider dropping it off at the main office for the park to handle. This way you will know that your empty canister is being dismantled in a safe way.

But make sure that before you return to the park for another hike that you have purchased some new self defense spray for your protection against any bears you may find yourself stumbling across along one of the trails.

You will soon find out that bear spray is your best friend when it comes to protecting you against hostile hungry bears, especially if you decide to take a walk in the months leading up to winter which will see more bears on the hunt for food before they go into hibernation.

However, with the new installation of the Yellowstone National Park recycling machine it is hoped that more employees will be more inclined to safely dispose their bear spray canisters when they have finished with it.
