Police in Bridgewater Equipped with TASER Devices
Bridgewater police will have to find room on their belts in order to equip themselves with the latest self defense TASER device that offers an electroshock to those it is targeted towards.
One police chief wanted to equip his officers with an alternative to traditional firearms when it came to tackling hostile crime scenes. As a result of this, his thinking eventually saw him deciding on the stunning tool that many law enforcement personnel across the United States have come to rely on over recent years while on duty.
Not only does it minimize possible injury to the officers, but innocent bystanders, in addition to the suspects themselves won’t find themselves the accidental target that a traditional firearm may pose to them.
A TASER weapon is an electroshock device that has a similar handgun appearance to that of the traditional police firearms; however instead of projecting bullets when fired, it shoots out two probes connected to wires that have the potential to deliver 50,000 volts of electricity.
Anyone who feels the shock from one of these devices would instantly be subdued, which gives police enough time to handcuff the suspect without incurring further harm.
In May of this year, officers at Bridgewater took part in TASER training and are now qualified to train other officers. The officers that undertake the training are also required to feel the shock from the device. This allows them to know how it feels before they finish their training, and ultimately before they begin utilizing the device while on duty.
There are countless police departments widely spread who consider the device to be an extremely effective tool to employ, as it doesn’t leave any mark or produce any lasting injuries. Because of this, it’s an ideal choice for officers compared to a firearm.
As a result of this, there are more police departments across the United States that are adding the self defense tools to countless police belts that has been designed to increase their safety while also reducing the amount of harm inflicted upon a targeted suspect that may be incurred through other means.
