Stun Gun Used to Save Life

Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies employed a stun gun to save a suicidal man’s life.

According to a sheriff’s officer report the man’s wife called 911 to inform that her husband had locked himself into their bathroom after taking a knife with him and was threatening to kill himself.

When deputies arrived to the residence of the married couple, they found the suicidal man lying on the bed, holding a large knife to his chest. When a deputy tried to talk to the man, he then moved the knife, which was at his chest, to his stomach, before then moving it to his throat.

After the deputies were presented with an opportunity, they seized the arm that the man was holding the knife in, while a second deputy utilized his stun gun. The man in question was subsequently stunned in the chest with the self-defense device before he was detained without anything further happening. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

This is a prime example of the good that a self defense device can do in a situation that requires quick action from the officers’ involved. Effective and easy to employ the stunning device proved to be a key component in the whole situation.

A stun gun was created to save peoples’ lives, while also protecting the lives of the officers’ who employ the device. And this is what it did in this case.

However, before an officer can be equipped with one of these tools they are required to first undergo the correct training. This training ultimately teaches them how to deal with different situations while working, in addition to knowing how to bring order to a situation, while trying to limit the harm that could potentially come to a person involved.

It’s not everyday that you hear something in the news about a stun gun that has been used to save a person’s life. Unfortunately, nowadays there seems to be more bad press involved with the devices. But when something does crop up, it reinforces the good that the tools do.

After all when someone needs help a stun gun has become the ideal device to call upon for its effectiveness.
