Regulation Proposed for Stun Guns

A legislator has proposed that the importation, distribution, in addition to the sale of stun guns should regulated by law.

The legislator who proposed the call did so after a man found himself arrested for allegedly employing the stunning device, when he attempted to kidnap the father of the actress-singer Sarah Geronimo.

He explained that it would be better for authorities to implement controls in a bid to stop the misuse of the devices which were initially created for self defense purposes.

At the very least owners of stun guns should be required to first undergo an extensive background check before purchasing a device would be possible.

According to police the suspect involved in the failed abduction attempted to subdue the actress’s father with the self defense tool before trying to shove him into a van located in the parking basement of a media broadcasting corporation.

For an individual to purchase a tool designed to protect them when they find their safety in harm’s way, it is vital that those who purchase one become responsible owners of the devices.

Nowadays there are too many people buying these tools only to employ them in an abusive manner just so that they can get what they want no matter what it takes to do so. Unfortunately as a result of this the tools are receiving a bad name and are seeing companies noticing a drop in sales.

The legislator proposed that in order to determine responsible ownership any prospective buyer would first need to undergo a detailed background check prior to activating a stun gun.

The devices have become extremely popular since military and US police officers have started to utilize them when they need to subdue a suspect without inflicting any harm on them that a traditional firearm may do.

However, it’s not just law enforcement that is employing these devices; criminals are too. Unlike law enforcement who are first required to undergo training before they can employ one of these tools, the general public doesn’t need to. As a result of this, anyone who is the legal age can purchase one of these tools with minimal questions asked.

And yet, if a law was put into place to regulate the importation, distribution, and the sale of stun guns, the number of people getting their hands on them would decline, thus putting a stop to any potential misuse that these devices are experiencing when found in the wrong hands.
