Fare Evader Gets Stunned with Stun Gun

A fare evader soon felt the shock from a transit officer’s stun gun after he was taken down in the Bay Area.

The event which happened two weeks after the Bay Area Rapid Transit agency lifted its two month suspension on the utilizations of stun gun weapons saw a BART officer approaching the 35-year-old fare evader as he was leaving the downtown Berkeley station.

The BART officer ordered the man to stop; however the man in question was seen pushing the officer away, only to quickly make his way up the stairs. It wasn’t long before another confrontation ensued, where the officer says that he witnessed a bulging object from the man’s pocket and viewed the fare evader as a threat.

As a result of the confrontation and the possible threat the man presented, the transit officer employed his stun gun, before taking the man into custody where he was charged with resisting arrest and fare evasion.

Nowadays, thanks to the creation of nonlethal self defense devices there are many individuals whose lives have been saved as a result. Simply carrying a personal protection weapon around with you out of sight greatly increases your safety level. And while you may never have to operate your stun gun for protection, just having it on you in case is better than not. Not only that, but you can always call upon its assistance when the moment comes that you do require it.

Law enforcement officials are also greatly pleased with these tools as it halves the time down that may have been spent on tackling an individual resisting arrest. Now that they have access to stun gun devices, individual who simply avoid paying their fare are quickly dealt with in a timely manner.

Furthermore, because the BART officer followed the man in question and noticed the bulging object in the man’s pocket he was able to stop something from happening if that object turned out to be a concealed weapon. And while it didn’t state what the object was, the 35-year-old man was taken down, thus eliminating any chance of possible harm to someone else.
