Lawmakers are taking a look at changing the laws on TASER devices, which would see people with concealed weapons permits being allowed to carry the tools.
House Bill 4155 and 4156 would change the Penal Code to do the following things:
Permit fugitive recovery representatives and reserve peace officers to possess and employ a portable electro-muscular disruption device while undertaking their duties, if trained in the utilization, and effects of the device.
Permit a person that holds a valid concealed pistol licence to own a TASER device, if trained in the employment and effects of the device.
Furthermore, permit a CPL holder to employ a self defense device against another person in order to defend a person or property under circumstances that would require the utilization of physical force.
By changing the laws regarding the legality of carrying the self defense device, more people will be permitted to have a form of protection at hand should they require it without having to face the ramifications and possible confiscation of their device.
In today’s society, there are countless cases of crime and violence, which is seeing more individuals searching for a way to increase their safety. Whether it’s the job they do, the commute they make to work, if they are out, or if they are victimized in their own home, simply being able to defend themselves will greatly increase their confidence and will prevent someone from attempting to overpower them.
No one should be a victim of crime and as a result, they should be able to defend themselves in whatever way they deem necessary in order to escape from potential harm.
Of course, if the proposed changes are made, it will be necessary for those purchasing a TASER device to understand how they are employed and the effects they can produce. Without the training, it will be unlikely for a person to own and carry a device in many states legally, that consider them illegal for public use.
But then this is a simple requirement considering the importance that many people regard in these tools. Simply knowing how to effectively employ a TASER device will only help out the individual using it for their protection, as they will know how to get the most out of the tool when required.

After police employed a TASER device on a man who had barricaded himself in his Sydney home, they were able to remove suspicious chemicals from the house.
Officers were called to the home located at Lane Cove where they found a 25-year-old man had locked himself in a room with a knife.
After officers were able to gain entry to the man’s room, fearing for the man’s health and safety, they utilized a TASER weapon on him.
While searching the home police found the discovery of chemicals which were safely removed.
When it comes to the safety of the public, officers are required to find the most effective way possible that will bring control to a situation with the least amount of harm involved. If there is a suspect who is threatening to harm themselves then officers need to find a solution that will prevent the incident from escalating.
As a result of this, there are more officers employing TASER devices on individuals who are suicidal. If negotiating with the individual involved doesn’t bring about the results sort after then it’s not unheard of for an officer to determine the situation and to utilize a self defense device as their backup.
This means that officers are able to stop a situation from mounting that could potentially bring about deadly results. While there is a great misconception about the non-lethal tools there have been numerous studies undertaken providing vital evidence that points to the fact that they don’t present a deadly threat to the individuals they are used on.

About 20,000 activists in South Korea have taken to the streets of Seoul to march with anti-globalization slogans in a rally against the G-20 summit.
This was the first major anti-globalization demonstration before South Korea plays hosts to a number of leaders from both the G-20 advanced and emerging economies.
The protesters at the rally were seen dancing, singing and waving signboards that read about their opposition to the G-20 Summit at a large plaza located near Seoul City Hall.
However, in order to keep order approximately 9,000 riot officers in addition to police buses encircled the rally. While no violence was initially reported, there were reports of protesters engaged in scuffles with riot police, as officers attempted to prevent the protesters from marching through nearby streets.
In response to these incidents officers released pepper spray in order to disperse the crowd.
An effective deterrent to employ, the spray canister is an ideal device for officers to have when it comes to tackling large crowds. According to an Escondido police sergeant, police were forced to employ a stun gun on an unruly offender after he attempted to kick his family’s home door in.
The man was seen attempting to force his way into the home; however his family refused as they believed he was on drugs. When officers arrived on the scene the man fled on foot and after officers caught up with him, he was found refusing to comply with orders from police.
As a result of this officers utilized a stun gun on the man in a bid to subdue and arrest him without further incident.
After the man was arrested he was taken to a medical center for treatment to his foot after he suffered an injury due to kicking the door in. Due to his actions the offender is expected to receive charges after being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Nowadays, with the assistance of self defense devices officers are able to apprehend unruly suspects without having to resort to brute force. Whereas many years ago the sight of a baton or firearm may have been the typical device relied upon, that is no longer the case in today’s society.

Staff, students and faculty found themselves wearing athletic gear as they kicked up the level by taking on dangerous scenarios. At the end of October, a free self defense seminar was provided for the Wesleyan community.
The assistant dean of students initially got the seminar idea from his wife who is a med-student at the UNT Health Science Center, where she told him about the Krav Maga International Federation hosting a defense seminar at her school.
The seminar provides the individuals who participate the importance of understanding the psychology of an attacker. When an attacker attacks, they assume that they are in control over the situation and their victim. However Krav Maga teaches it participants how they can successfully avoid becoming a victim, in addition to knowing how to regain control if they find themselves targeted.
Not only did it teach its participants vital self defense moves, but it also taught them how to be aware of their surroundings, how to protect another person with them and how to fight back if attacked.
According to their website, Krav Maga is the official defense system employed by the Israeli Defense Forces and is a system utilized by hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of civilians across the United States.
The defense system employed is simple and effective and focuses on instinctive movements, realistic training situations, and practical techniques.
Nowadays, it’s important for people to know how to protect themselves which means they are required to know the skills and techniques involved in order to do so. After all, while an individual may be able to go their whole life without being attacked, if they do suddenly find themselves targeted they will have the necessary skills at their disposal to employ.
And what better protection can a person have then knowing how to effectively prevent an offender from harming them with skills that law enforcement agencies employ to protect their officers.
Not only that, but simply knowing how to defend yourself with your own hands is an empowering feeling and will ultimately give a person the necessary confidence boost they require.

Since the employment of TASER devices was extended to specially trained police officers on 15 May of this year, the statistics show that injuries to officers involved in violent arrests have declined to their lowest level in five years.
Across North Yorkshire in England, results found that in the first three months of the self defense devices in use they were drawn at 40 incidents; however only six of those actually resulted in the device being fired at a subject.

In most cases, the threat or even mere sight of a TASER device is sufficient at preventing a situation from escalating. This is clearly evident through the figures that show a stunning device is actually fired at only one in nine incidents where authorization has been permitted.
Additionally, the report further revealed that when the devices were employed they were done in an appropriate and proportionate manner, which showed no confusion over whether or not to employ a firearm or self defense device. This then shows that the officer’s confidence has greatly increased when it comes to dealing with confrontational situations.
However, while officers hope that violent situations can be dealt with through communication, which is often the case, there are some instances when officers are required to take further action. Not only that, but they will also look at ways of controlling a situation in the quickest and safest possible way.
When officers’ are faced with violent situations the TASER device has become a number one tactical tool for an officer to employ.

San Antonio park police employed a stun gun on a man who allegedly attempted to fight them off in order to avoid being arrested after exposing himself at a local park.
The man in question is reported as asking an officer for sex while warning him to be careful, explaining that there were a lot of officers at Concepción Park. After officers tried to arrest their suspect he is reported as having fought with officers.
Once the man was in custody, police also found out that their offender was also wanted for outstanding theft and burglary warrants.
Apprehending individuals that are a threat to society is of vital importance to law enforcement agencies, and as a result they are required to carry various weapons which they see fit to utilize at their disposal.
In many cases though there are more officers employing self defense devices such as stun guns when they want to subdue their suspects. The simple reason for this is that it reduces any injuries to an officer and their suspect that might otherwise be achieved through the use of a firearm.
Additionally, when an officer apprehends an offender, they want to put that offender in prison if the action of the offender requires that decision. They don’t want a suspect who has been injured as a result of a bullet wound to then end up in hospital away from the watchful eyes of officers.

If officers had not taken the necessary action and their offender had escaped he may have come back at a later stage only to ask another person the same question.
Of course, in today’s society officers have a tough job on their hands when it comes to protecting the public they serve and the devices they employ to do so. But it’s important to remember that while everyone may not agree about the tools employed, they have been introduced to law enforcement agencies across the United States. Not only are they seen as an effective device to apprehend dangerous individuals, but they are also an alternative to traditional firearms that cause deadly results.

A wanted man who led Westport police on a chase was finally taken into custody after officers employed a stun gun on him in order to subdue their suspect in Weston.
The 42-year-old man, who was wanted on a violation-of-parole charge, was initially spotted by an officer parked in a parking lot. When officers approached the man’s car, he is alleged to have driven towards them and in the act of doing so hit one of the officers.
The suspect then sped from the scene, but was soon pursued into Weston. When his car became stuck in the garden of a house, he fled on foot and made his way through a swampy and wooded area. A lone officer chasing the 42-year-old finally caught up with the man after following him through the woods, where he utilized his stun gun.
Nowadays, the employment of self defense devices is not a new thing for people to learn about. After all, there are various law enforcement agencies who have been utilizing them for years in order to increase the safety of their officers as well as the safety of the public.
And because of their effectiveness additional law enforcement agencies are joining those who already work with them as a way to successfully apprehend unruly suspects who may be posing a threat to members of the public or to the officers themselves.
